Villain Origin Stories

Villains are not born. They’re made.

Villain origin stories will hopefully become a collection of works about villains we know and love from some of the most popular fairytales. Ralynn Kimie brings a twist to these old tales as she pays homage to her home state of Hawai’i and her East Asian heritage in these unique origin stories.

Curse of the Nautilus

A modernized Hawaiian mythology-inspired fairy tale of a Sea Nymph and the Prince of the Atlantic.

There was once a sea witch with powers that rivaled Poseidon himself.

When she challenged him for his throne, he killed her, and her magic was locked away in a nautilus shell lost in the dark ocean depths.

Sought after by many, none had the power to wield it.

Until now.
